Pok Deng at Playme8: How to Play, Features & Tips

Pok Deng (ป๊อกเด้ง) is Thailand's own banking card game. The King Maker version at Playme8 is computer-dealt: you and the dealer get two cards each, you may draw one more if you have no Pok, the higher last digit wins, and suited cards or pairs earn deng multipliers.

How to play

How to play Pok Deng, step by step

Pok Deng takes six steps: bet, receive two cards, count the last digit, check for Pok, then decide whether to draw or stand. Drawing the third card is the only part you control; the rest is comparing your hand with the dealer's.

  1. Log in to Playme8, open the card games lobby, choose the King Maker channel and pick “Kingmaker Pok Deng”.
  2. Place your bet; you and the dealer each receive two cards.
  3. Count the points: aces are 1, 2 to 9 are face value, 10 and picture cards are 0, and only the last digit counts (6 + 7 = 13 scores 3).
  4. A two-card 8 or 9 is Pok and is revealed straight away; a Pok hand cannot draw, and Pok 9 beats Pok 8.
  5. Without Pok you may stand or take one more card, so every hand finishes with two or three cards; the dealer acts last.
  6. The higher last digit beats the dealer. Deng multipliers raise the payout: two cards of the same suit or a pair pay double, three cards of one suit pay triple, three picture cards or a straight pay 3 times, and three of a kind or a straight flush pay 5 times.
  7. Check the game's rules panel, because the exact multipliers can differ slightly between versions.

Quick tip: Decide on a simple drawing rule before you start (for example, stand on 5 or higher) and stick to it instead of guessing hand by hand.

Features

Key rules and deng multipliers in Pok Deng

Two rules set Pok Deng apart from baccarat: you choose whether to draw a third card, and hands of one suit, pairs or special patterns earn deng multipliers that raise the payout.

Pok

A two-card 8 or 9 is Pok: it is revealed at once and cannot draw. Pok 9 beats Pok 8.

Drawing a third card

Without Pok you may stand or take one more card; the dealer acts last.

Two-deng and three-deng

Two cards of the same suit or a pair pay double; three cards of one suit pay triple.

Special hands

Three picture cards or a straight pay 3 times; three of a kind or a straight flush pay 5 times.

Who it suits

Who is Pok Deng for? Pros and cons

Pok Deng suits Thai players who already know the game from home and want quick rounds on a phone, and anyone who wants a real decision in each hand. It is not for players who would rather not think during a round, because the third-card choice is yours.

Pros

  • You make a real decision (draw or stand), unlike baccarat.
  • Deng multipliers mean a modest total in one suit can still pay well.
  • Computer dealing keeps rounds quick, with no waiting for other players.

Cons

  • Multipliers can differ slightly between versions, so check the rules panel.
  • A Pok hand cannot draw, even if a third card might have made a deng.
  • King Maker publishes no RTP we could verify.
Misconceptions

Common misconceptions about Pok Deng

Common Pok Deng misconceptions are that a Pok hand can still draw, that any two cards earn a deng, and that the dealer decides first. In fact a Pok hand cannot draw, a deng needs one suit or a pair, and the dealer acts last.

“With Pok 8, I can draw again to get a deng”

The facts: A Pok hand is revealed at once and cannot draw. Its deng multiplier is based on the first two cards only.

“Any two cards are two-deng”

The facts: Two-deng needs two cards of the same suit or a pair. Mixed suits that are not a pair pay at the normal rate.

“The dealer has lost several hands, so the dealer must win the next one”

The facts: Every round of this game is decided by its random number generator, independently of the last. Previous results, the time of day and a run of losses do not make the next round more or less likely to pay.
